I have been thinking about installing a motorcycle tripod for my canon SLR for my rides. I have looked at few but I am not satisfied, so I ordered few parts from Ram mounts and pistol grip tripod from BH. I will keep posting my progress as I go along.

it appears as it could possibly be in the way of the rear view mirror. Can you give me some feed back on what you've discovered with this set up so far?

Thanks
You are right, but you can move the pistol grip tripod in any direction you want by holding down the grip (white handle on my last pic), once you release the grip it locks the position. It held good through 6 hour ride. You can check the video I shot with this set up here http://www.ridesnroads.com/video/lake-okeechobee-motorcycle .

But the main problem I experienced was the severe shacking of the film. I believe this has to do with where I set up the camera on handle bar, so I moved it to center of the handle, I will test this set up in couple of days and post sample video.
