I did an SS1K from Dover DE to Montreal and back 16 hours a bit over 1200 miles, It got me my IBA cert.
Awesome rides guys. And hello to the other Iron Butts. My husband and I completed an Iron Butt 4810 last year - 2 up. Only one other couple has done it according to documentation. It was grueling and by far the most exciting adventure I have ever had. BUT I would not do it again. We finished a Saddle Sore - Oklahoma to Needles, Calif - in May. Now RD wants to go for 1500 in 24 hours. Not me. I want to stop and smell the roses a little. I'm glad we're fit for the long hauls because it increases our ability to ride. But don't act like a wimp because you ride 300+. That's still a lot of miles against the wind! The route is everything. For Iron Butts go for the roads with the best conditions possible. We got bogged down in Oregon and almost cost us the 4810 on the last day! And only 20 minutes breaks at the gas stations. Face it. your best friends will be gas stations and hotel clerks. Avoid cold water. It stresses your body and accelerates fatigue. RawHyde adventure suggests carrying water. Hope the tips help. Love this site.
To complete an Iron Butt 4810, riders must enter each of the 48 states, get a receipt showing time, date, place and mileage in less than 10 days or 240 hours. We completed ours in 239 hours and 51 minutes. The last day was 23 hours long. I blogged every day and took photos. Enjoy the trip through my eyes here. To say the least a marriage was tested. The best part. I had no idea how much wilderness we enjoy in our country. However, we have now added a GPS to the bike, which we didn't have on the 4810. Highly recommend GPS technology.
Gps is a huge help, I am prepping for a trip to Canada in 2 weeks. The bike is all ready new brakes tires, oil etc. I can't wait to get started heading up through the Carskills then the Adirondaks and on into Ontario. Final destination the Haliburton Highlands. For you know it more riding!
Queens New York to Chicago Illinois in one day, I think that was about 80-900 miles, then the next day from Chicago Illinois to Lincoln Nebraska, from Lincoln Nebraska to Las Vegas Nevada, Day four: rode from Las Vegas to Ventura county Calif.  About 3,000 miles in four days.  That was a trip!
That definitely is a loooong ride, sounds like fun.

Definitely!!!  The things you do when you're young.  I rode three bikes from NY to Florida over the past three years and the last ride was aweful.  That's about 1200 miles in two days, one with my wife on the back of HER GSXR-600.  I stay local these days.
