Labor Day Weekend in Oklahoma Frontier

What sane motorcyclist would knowingly go to 59,000 plus acres of deer, elk and buffalo? Well if you could see the frontier in the wild, chow down on longhorn beef hamburger as big as a pie and finish with a fat piece of cheesecake? Count me in. See stories and photos here.

To complete an Iron Butt 4810, riders must enter each of the 48 states, get a receipt showing time, date, place and mileage in less than 10 days or 240 hours. We completed ours in 239 hours and 51 minutes. The last day was 23 hours long. I blogged…

Awesome rides guys. And hello to the other Iron Butts. My husband and I completed an Iron Butt 4810 last year - 2 up. Only one other couple has done it according to documentation. It was grueling and by far the most exciting adventure I have ever…

Highway 70 is fantastically beautiful. Especially at the higher altitudes. There was still snow on the ground in May, but I don't know if it's still cool now. Also, there were a lot of inroads to the ski resorts. Have fun.

Love your posts. Very entertaining post. I definitely agree with your comment "it takes a certain type of courage to get on a motorcycle essentially taking your own life in your hands, might I also add it takes even more courage to get on a…

My Vespa Ventures

After years of riding behind RD on our BMW, I wanted to get more riding time in and learn to drive for myself. I wanted to be prepared in case of emergency. The question became, which bike? Of course, I wanted a Ducati Monster. Or a Yamaha. Or a BMW. I knew I wanted it mostly to get around my little town because I'm not ready to give up my photo seat with RD on our cross country tours. So we decided on a Vespa. See the "Lesson."…See More

The Streetfighter and The Air Force Pilot

Ducati launched its Streetfighter last month. The coming out party in Oklahoma City brought out about 250 folks to the BMW/Ducati/Vespa of OKC dealership. One of the more interesting guests was an Air Force pilot, Van Blaylock, who road races his Ducati for fun on weekends. Check out the slideshow and story plus some pretty cool footage from Ducati promoting their new baby.

Thanks for the encouragement. Really enjoy your blog and the photos. And the food. I love food. Did I say that loud enough? This skinny woman loves to eat and cook.

I found 9 copies on amazon. They're advertised as used but in good condition. Mr. Pedersen told me he was in the process of printing again. Check out his GlobeRiders website to contact him directly.

Helge Pedersen and GlobeRiders

I had an amazing visit with Helge Pedersen, who wrote "10 Years on 2 Wheels." During the 80's, Helge rode about 250,000 miles through 77 countries on a BMW G/S. Most of it was on back roads. He lived in a small tent and cooked on a gas stove. Had 2 meals: rice with sardines and sardines with rice. He lived by selling photography and travel articles. Today, he runs a company called GlobeRiders that specializes in long tours to unique… Continue

Colorado to Oklahoma via Tornado

Posted on May 16, 2009 at 1:30pm 0 Comments

Our last day on the road left us 897 miles from home. Not usually what you want to hear. We were in Parachute, Colorado, a small town just east of Grand Junction and 224 miles from Denver. At the very least we had about 14 hours of riding in front of us. And a mountain range. Covered in snow. It was 32° in them hills. I layered up.

Not many people understand our style of riding. There are days when I don’t either. Maybe it’s thrill… Continue
